The Juneteenth Foundation, Inc. (“the Foundation”) extends our sincere gratitude for your donations during our 26th Annual Juneteenth Charitable Fundraising Campaign. Your gracious and generous donations helped to provide much needed assistance to several individuals and families in the community.
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Charity BBQ Cook-Off will most likely not be part of the celebration again this year, but so we can continue helping those in need throughout the community, the Foundation is launching another fundraising campaign. Also, along with other non-profit organizations, we will honor the moment in history by declaring the month of June as Juneteenth Month with a reading of a proclamation by the Hays County Commissioners Court and the San Marcos City Council during their first held meetings in the month of June.
With that said, we are asking you to donate funds to the Foundation this year so that we can continue to assist individuals and families in the community that are struggling to keep up with their everyday needs; those who are losing hope. The Foundation is a unique non-profit organization in that it can reach out to people in the community who do not know where to go for help, or even how to ask for help. The Foundation’s members are part of the same community as those individuals and families and when we hear, usually by word-of-mouth, that someone is struggling, or there is a family in need, we jump into action and find out how we can help, and we do it as quickly as possible. We have provided food; monetary assistance for medical and household necessities; educational scholarships; and have provided and helped with many other crucial items. Not only do we help individuals and families that are struggling through hard times, but we also provide our support to other charitable organizations in the community such as the Hays County Youth Livestock Show; Citizens in Need; Calaboose African American History Museum; and San Marcos High School Scholarship Program.
Needless-to-say, the COVID-19 pandemic makes giving important this year, just like last year, many people are struggling with loss of income; schools shutting down; children struggling through online learning; making ends meet; and endless other situations and struggles. Your donation, no matter the amount, will benefit the community right now, and into the future as this pandemic will most likely have lasting effects even after most people receive the vaccination this year. How You Can Help Although there is not going to be a charity BBQ cook-off this year, we hope to raise needed funds by launching another Juneteenth Charitable Fundraising Campaign for 2021. We ask for your help by donating to the Foundation, which will go towards supporting those in need throughout the community. Also, remember that your donation to the Foundation is tax-exempt because it is a non-profit organization.
